Sugar Buster Diet

The Sugar Buster Diet is a high protein / low carbohydrate diet that greatly reduces refined sugar, white flour, white rice and some high glycemic fruits. The theory behind this diet is that white flour and refined sugar creates excessive insulin production. Too much insulin secretion will cause the body to store fat rather than burn fat. 

By drastically reducing white flour, refined sugar and eating lean meats, fibrous vegetables and whole grain products, your blood sugar stays level throughout the day making it easier to burn excess fat. There’s a list of “foods to eat” and “foods to avoid”  and you pick from the list to create your own diet plan.

Benefits: Many people have reported losing weight on the Sugar Buster Diet. Stable blood sugar from eating lean meats, vegetables and whole grains gives you more energy throughout the day and keeps you from feeling deprived.

Our Evaluation: You may avoid healthy foods that happen to be on the Sugar Buster list of “foods to avoid” such as corn, carrots (high amounts), beets, potatoes, and some high glycemic fruits such as apples, peaches and pears.  The Sugar Buster diet tends to be too extreme in reducing sugar, white potatoes, white rice and white flour products.  Although it is a good idea to greatly reduce sugar and white flour from your diet, the Sugar Buster Diet goes a little too far which makes compliance to this diet difficult over the long term.
