Zone Diet
The zone diet was developed by
biochemist Barry Sears and advocates a balance of
carbohydrates to protein to fat of 40/30/30.
The theory is that when food consumed in a
balanced of 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat, the
body is in it’s maximum fat burning state, better
known as the Zone.
The hormonal balance that is produced by
40/30/30 “Zone” causes maximum weight loss.
Benefit:
The combination of carbs to protein to fat is
easier to maintain than many popular diets without
leaving you weak like the Atkins Diet. It encourages
the consumption of healthy foods such as fruits,
vegetables, grains and meats. Many people have
reported losing weight on the Zone diet.
Our
Evaluation: The Zone is better than most popular
diets but still is a low calorie diet that will
cause your metabolism to slow down over time. The
40/30/30 carb to protein to fat ratio will work for
most people but may not be as efficient for people
who are more carb sensitive.
